It’s not easy to choose the most beautiful sights in the world to photograph because there are so many. I decided to ask people who are experienced travellers and photographers: “Can you name some of the most beautiful places in the world you think are worth photographing?” I asked my question on travel forum and I was impressed with the large amount of information about extended family photo ideas and amazing photos that I received!
There are so many fantastic places on our planet and wonderful photography picture ideas described there that I decided to make different articles for different countries.
So in this article I present to you some of the most beautiful places in the U.S.A. that were suggested to me by people in that forum.
It would be interesting to hear other opinions about this topic, so if you have some other ideas about the most beautiful places in the world I will be happy to publish your views.
Here is a list of twelve sights worthy of photographing when visiting America.
1. Maroon Bells
These two mountains, which are located about 20 km (12 miles) from the city of Aspen and are great places for photography in Colorado. Maroon Bells are actually two peaks that make up part of the Elk Mountains which are located in the White River National Forest. The highest of the two is named Maroon Peak and is 4317 metres (14,163 feet) high.
The second peak is North Maroon Peak and its height is 4273 metres (14,019 feet). These peaks and the area surrounding it are said to be the most photographed sights in Colorado. The peaks are usually snow capped all year. There are many different walking trails in this area, so grab your camera and start walking and taking pictures of best spots in Colorado!
2. Crystal Mill
This is another of the most photographed sites in Colorado. It is a wooden structure that was built as a powerhouse in the mid 1890s. It has not been used for almost 100 years but its picturesque location makes it a must see if you are in this area.
It’s built on a small outcrop next to the Crystal River. Getting here can be a little difficult as the road is steep and not very wide so a four wheel drive might be the best option.
3. Arches National Park
This park is located in the eastern part of the state of Utah and is one of the good places to take pictures. The largest town in the area is Moab which is about 6 km (4 miles) south. The Arches National Park is known for its incredible naturally made sandstone arches.
More than 2000 of these formations can be found. One of the most famous and most photographed is known as ‘Delicate Arch’. It stands 20 metres (65 feet) tall. In this national park you will also find many different types of flora and fauna. The town of Moab is about 370 km (230 miles) south east of the capital city of Utah, Salt Lake City.
4. Horseshoe Bend
This is a part of the course of the mighty Colorado River that takes the shape of a ‘horseshoe’. It is best viewed from a cliff top, where you are some 300 metres (1000 feet) above. It is located about 8 km (5 miles) from Glen Canyon Dam close to the town of Page, Arizona.

Located in the Denali National Park this mountain is the highest in North America. It rises to a height of 6168 metres (20,237 feet) above sea level. The Denali National Park is located about 200 km (125 miles) north of Anchorage and the nearest town is Healy, which is near the north east corner of the park.
The area is a favourite for backpackers and a one of the nice places to take pictures in North America not only the mountains but many beautiful lakes, wildlife, and wonderful flora.
6. Glacier National Park
Among places to photograph in Montana my friends named Glacier National Park, which is located in the north west of the state. Its northern edge runs along the border with the Canadian province of Alberta. The park covers an area of about 4000 square kilometres. There are over a thousand species of plants, hundreds of different animal species, including bears, mountain goats and moose and more than 120 lakes.
Nearly two million people visit the park each year. The nearest city is Kalispell which is located about 370 km (230 miles) north west of the capital, Helena and about 720 km (450 miles) north west of the largest city in Montana, Billings.

Possibly one of the best places for photography in USA and most famous national parks is Yellowstone. The largest part of the park is in the state of Wyoming but there are smaller sections of it to be found in Idaho and Montana. This park has a large amount of wildlife with hundreds of different animals calling the park home. Living here you will find such animals as bears, elk, bison, wolves, coyotes, just to name a few.

If you need unique photo shoots, go to Cape Neddick Lighthouse. Built in 1879 this lighthouse is situated on Nubble Island about 90 metres (300 feet) off the coast from Cape Neddick Point, York, in the state of Maine. It is only 12 metres (40 feet) in height but because of the land it sits on the light is 27 metres (88 feet) above sea level.
This area has beaches and fishing and scuba diving are very popular. There are also many restaurants and cafes nearby.
9. New York’s Central Park
A lot of family group photo ideas you can find in one of the most famous inner city parks in the world is New York’s Central Park. It is 341 hectares (843 acres) of beautiful gardens, trees, flowers, ponds and lakes. It’s an incredible sight when seen for the air with a mass of buildings surrounding it on all sides.
There are about 25,000 trees in the park plus numerous species of birds and mammals. The park is located in Manhattan. It was first opened in 1857 and has around 35 million visitors annually.

The park is situated in south east California and covers an area of about 3200 square kilometres (1230 square miles). The ‘Joshua Tree’ is the name of a native tree that grows here. There are a large number of birds and animals that live in the park, such as eagles, roadrunners, quails, squirrels and coyotes.
A lot of incredible rock formations millions of years old can be seen too. The park is also popular for people interested in astronomy as the night sky is very dark here as there is very little lighting in the area.
11. Bridal Veil Falls
Situated near the town of Telluride in Colorado, this spectacular waterfall is about 110 metres (360 feet) in height. The building perched on the top of the falls is a house and power plant. This is the name give to a 110 kilometre (68 mile) section of U.S Route 212. It covers the area between Red Lodge and Cooke City in Montana, although much of the highway is located in Wyoming. Be aware that weather here can be extreme, especially in winter, where heavy snowfalls can occur and the road is usually open from May to October. At its highest point it reaches a height of almost 3200 metres (11,000 feet)
