Dubai is one of the main cities of the United Arab Emirates and is considered to be an important tourist centre. Its beautiful beaches, fascinating excursions, gourmet foods annually attracts travellers from around the world. It’s impossible to count all the interesting things to see in Dubai.
This unique city is suitable for everybody: couples wishing to relax with children, lovers who dream of adding a spark in their relationship, hunters for adventure, those who look for romance, and want to spend their holidays as extremely and actively as possible, gourmets who travel around the globe in pursuit of rare goodies.
We offer you our list of top ten things to do in Dubai.
1. Burj Khalifa
If you want to touch the heart of the city, climb the Burj Khalifa. This pride of, and symbol of, Dubai was built in 2010 and now is known as the tallest building in the world. Its height is 830 metres and it has 163 floors. Burj Khalifa is the basis of and an important part of the business life in Dubai.
Not only is there an opportunity to see the city from a bird’s-eye view, but in fact its functions are more broad: there are hotels, apartments and offices there. The famous observation deck is located on the 124th floor, and it is the highest observation deck in the world. But this is not the last record – on the 122nd floor you can find “Atmosphere”, the restaurant, which is located at the highest altitude in the world.
2. Dubai Miracle Garden
One of things to visit in Dubai is Dubai Miracle Garden. It is a real miracle. This huge, wonderful garden in Dubai is the largest park of flowers in the world. Many plants and flowers are rare and were brought to Dubai specifically to create a unique landscape. Geraniums and petunias, lobelia and coleus – more than 50 different types of flowers adorn the massive Dubai Miracle Garden and create beautiful patterns.
Couples in particular enjoy walking in the park. The park was built in honour of Valentine’s Day and now many young people confess their feelings here, surrounded by beautiful flowers. It’s so romantic! Magnificent flowers are at your feet!
3. Ski Dubai complex
If you are fed up with sun and heat, take a break and go skiing. One of the most exciting things to do in Dubai for a day is visit the Ski Dubai complex. No, this is not a mistake, there is a real ski resort in Dubai, where the average summer temperature is 40 degrees, and thousands of people come to ski and enjoy the snow at this miracle in the hot desert.
You don’t need to take an outfit with you, it can be rented on site. And even if you never practiced skiing, it’s not a problem at all, experienced instructors will teach you for a couple of hours. So the slogan “get up on skis” is relevant even in Dubai. Four adults trails, children’s track, sledding, snowboarding and skiing – all this is available the whole year.
After intense activity you can enjoy hot Arabic coffee with cardamom in one of the cafes, the interior of which has a cosy alpine feel about it.
4. Camel riding in the desert
Would you like an experience like a real resident of the desert emirate, to visit a Bedouin habitat, to enjoy the taste of real food cooked over a fire? I’m sure the answer is yes. And such entertainment as desert safaris are very popular among tourists.
There is no metropolis here, no hustle and dust, only you and camels; it’s a fantastic opportunity to plunge into the harmony of nature, where there is only quiet desert around you. Travellers say that stars are so low and shine so brightly in the sky here, like nowhere else in the world, and you should come here if only for the sake of the special pleasure of seeing them.
5. Wild Wadi Water Park
Another favourite place for hanging out for tourists and residents of Dubai is the Wild Wadi Water Park. Several exciting attractions, waterfalls and cliffs, steep slopes and hills – all this is created in the style of tales about Sinbad the Sailor. Like in any fairy tale, there are many “dangers” here, of which children and adults are so fond, for example “The Secret Lagoon” with unexpected turns and descents. How about crazy things to do in Dubai?
Be careful, some slopes have such a high speed that you need to hold your swimsuits, otherwise they can to be accidentally washed away. Never forget your little kids, they will be absolutely happy to experience small pools, rides and artificial waves here.
Let me introduce you to another Dubai record – the most extensive indoor aquarium in the world. You can look at this miracle in Dubai Mall, where it is located. More than thirty thousand different sea creatures live in the aquarium and delight visitors with their active swimming. Risk-takers have a wonderful opportunity to swim among real sharks and take a close look at them.
For the not so brave you can put on snorkelling gear and enter a steel cage and be lowered to the bottom of the aquarium. The giant sharks will be glad to see you and it will still be a thrilling experience despite the safety of the cage.
7. Flying in a balloon
If you really want to be really impressed, include flying in a balloon in your “must do things in Dubai” list. It’s an amazing adventure, during which you will see Dubai from a bird’s perspective. Keep in mind that such flights are usually available from October to May, so plan your trip in advance. You can get a spectacular view watching the sunrise over the desert, when the entire desert is transformed into an extraordinary and exciting beautiful picture, which you might otherwise only see on desktop wallpaper. The flight begins very early and lasts about 5 hours. I place a bet you will never forget it!
8. Gold souk
Such “golden” activities can’t be called “cheap things to do in Dubai”, but you will have fun indeed, even if you don’t buy anything. Although I don’t know whether it is possible to refrain from purchases after seeing gold aurora everywhere. Mountains of gold, rivers of jewellery – it seems that you are in a sort of fabulous treasury, and now this tale is reality. It’s impossible to leave here without buying anything, even if only for the reason that the price of gold in the Emirates is the lowest in the world. You can, and have to, bargain here. Together with yellow and pink metal, in this market you can find precious stones, and fantastic jewellery with them. If you can wait, you can buy jewellery made to your own order. Golden offer!
9. Spice souk
The ancient spice market is a place where you can buy everything, and spend the whole day, strolling along the stalls with oriental goods. Sweets, dried fruit, bags of spices – all flavours of the world are concentrated in one place. Even if you are not a cook, here you will forget about skyscrapers and beaches and feel yourself to be a pioneer of taste. Some items and perhaps new tastes you will find only here: large dates, Arabic sweets, rosebuds, even black fragrant lemon and saffron.
10. Al Mamzar Beach Park
If you really have visited all of the above nine things to see and do in Dubai, then just relax in one of the best parks in Dubai. Many travellers advise to visit the Al Mamzar Beach Park.
